Stillness
I felt the peacefulness as a child growing up within the pristine Adirondacks. Calming and reflective, Harrisburg Lake is located near the small town of Stony Creek. Summer darkness would settle into evening and the stillness of the cool air would be occasionally disturbed by the deafening and frightening scream of a screech owl as friends sat around a wood fire. Our eyes wide open while expressing a sense of terror and fright wondering if the devilish sound was even that of a mountain lion or puma. Silence would return and calm us as sparks feathered upward from the fire.
